Who Am I?
My name is Sadie Schmitz, and I am from Portland, Connecticut. I am a Senior at Watkinson School in Hartford, and the youngest in a family of four.
I am very politically active and deeply passionate about human rights. I love to travel and expand my global perspective by seeing different areas of the world.
In more recent years, I have become increasingly adventurous, and am always willing to try new things. Whether it be packing up for a two-week road trip, taking the train to New York alone for the first time, or just meeting new people, I have learned that stepping out of your comfort zone is the best way to achieve individual growth.

Political Engagement
How can I be politically engaged as a young person?
Amid the age of viral tweets and an increasingly polarized political system, my passion for politics has grown immensely. The result of the 2016 election left me empowered to join the political atmosphere in any way I could. To this day, my work in politics has included a fellowship, college course, internship, volunteer work, and designing a class.
